Exhibition "Jews in Latvia" in Oslo

On October 13, a lecture and presentation of the exhibition "Jews in Latvia" took place at the Blank Space museum in Oslo. The exhibition will be open from December 19 to 31, 2015, as part of the project "450 Years Together. Jewish Culture in the Latvian Environment — Art, Music, Education" No. EEZLV04/GSKA/2013/02 at the Blank Space Oslo gallery. The exhibition shows the positive integration of Jews in the interwar period and their participation in active public life, tells about the cultural life of Jews, their education, religion, famous personalities, politicians, architects, artists, etc. The exhibition also tells about the Nazi occupation, the Holocaust, ghettos, concentration camps and mass killings, as well as about the rescuers of Jews and the Resistance movement.

The project "450 Years Together. Jewish Culture in the Latvian Environment — Art, Music, Education" No. EEZLV04/GSKA/2013/02 is being implemented in Latvia and Norway from 01.01.2015 to 31.12.2015. The project is financed with 65,677 EUR by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism. The project cost is 89,117 EUR, with state co-financing of 11,590 EUR and co-financing by the "Shamir" society of 11,850 EUR. The main activities of the project are four exhibitions in Latvia and Norway, a klezmer music concert, and a competition and exhibition of children's drawings.*
